Gregory J. Smith / High Jump
Gregory attended Bolles High School in Jacksonville, Florida. During his tenure at Bolles he played basketball and was among a group of three individuals on the basketball team who excelled at jumping/dunking (one of those individuals, Dee Brown, went on to play for the Boston Celtics and won the NBA slam dunk championship in his rookie year). Greg was approached by the Bolles Track coach during his junior year and asked if he ever tried high jumping. He gave it a try and two weeks later he ended up finishing second in the Florida State Track and Field Championships. His senior year, Greg went on to win the Florida State T&F Championship with a jump of 6’-8 1/2” (to this day, still the Bolles High School record). Gregory received a track scholarship to the University of Florida where he competed and won several meets eventually hitting a personal record of 7’-0”.
Rick Bowen / Shot Put Coach
I have been involved in athletics my whole life. For as long as I can remember I played sports. Football, Baseball, Basketball, Swimming, etc., whatever was in season, I was on a team. This continued all through High School. When I became a parent, I passed this love of sports on to my kids. I work for Dell as a Field Support Technician in Woodland Hills. I have participated in a couple of triathlons and local 5Ks. I am trying hard to learn as much about Shot Put as possible so that I can teach your kids as much as possible. I want the Cheetahs to continue to have a well respected Shot Put program.

Since joining at the start of the Calabasas Cheetahs
organization, I have been running for 5 years. I specialize in events from
the quarter-mile up the the 2-Mile. My PR's include a 1:59.6 800 and a 4:30
1600, both school records set while a sophomore at Calabasas High School.
Currently a junior in high school, I have received all-county and all-league
honors for both Cross-Country and Track. I have medaled 3 times at the Mt.
SAC Cross-Country Invite, my highest being a fourth place finish in the
varsity boys division 2 race. I have been a varsity athlete for Calabasas
High School since entering as a freshman in 2004. During my time in
Cheetahs, I set records of which the 4x400 for which I anchored, still
stands and the 1500 meter record as well. I'm currently training under
American 800 Meter Record holder Johnny Gray. In my free time I enjoy
performing music and watching sports.

I am a 17 year old junior at Calabasas High and have
been running since I first joined the Cheetahs 5 years ago. I have been
running on the varsity track team at CHS with my twin brother Clayton since
I was a freshmen. I won freshmen athlete of the year my first year in high
school as a cross country runner on the varsity team and I am currently the
fastest female hurdeler at CHS. I specialize in the 100 mH and 300 mH. I
also run the 800m and 400m. I am also the News Editor for my school paper
and in my free time I attend ballet classes. I hope to attend college back
east. I love to run and my goal by the end of the season is to help the
Gremlins love running as much as I do.
