15. You’re My Cubs – Gary Pigg
Written by Alan Barcus and performed by Gary Pigg, “You’re My Cubs” is an
enthusiastic and dynamic song punctuated with electric guitar and an entire
choir of back-up singers. Alan Barcus is an accomplished composer and
playwright, having scored 12 movies, written the music and lyrics for three
musicals and written the music for over 2,400 television and radio commercials.
His most famous ad is arguably the “rattle rattle, thunder clatter, boom, boom,
boom” ad for Car-X, which Alan wrote and performed. Gary Pigg is a
singer/songwriter hailing from Nashville, Tennessee that has been working in the
music industry since the mid 1970s. The list of artists he has worked with is
impressive, such as Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Pat Boone, Dennis DeYoung, Billy
Ray Cyrus, and Michael Bolton, to name a few. Designed to inspire and enthuse
Cubs fans, “You’re My Cubs” has been serving that purpose quite well at Wrigley
Field the past several years.
